How It Started
The Paper Problem
Like many parents, I watched my oldest son's youth sports teams use football squares to raise money. The concept was great - quick fundraisers that everyone could participate in. But the execution? That was another story.
Paper grids, manual tracking, endless texts trying to coordinate who picked which square, trying to share photos of the board that were impossible to read on mobile. It was tedious, inefficient, and honestly took away from the fun.
A Family Tradition
My wife and I have run a football squares board every Super Bowl for the last couple of years. It's become a tradition with friends and family. But year after year, we'd deal with the same hassles - printing the grid, tracking payments, texting everyone the numbers, trying to remember who had which squares.
We kept thinking: "There has to be a better way to do this."
No Good Solution Existed
So I went looking for an app or tool that would solve these problems. I'm a geek who develops on the side for fun, so I figured someone must have built this already.
But I couldn't find anything that felt easy or fun to use. Everything was either overly complicated, looked dated, or had features we didn't need while missing the ones we did.
That's when I decided to build it myself.
